Waterboard Bacterial TDML for SD Beaches. The Data Sources section of the report has a lot of great pointers and suggestions. The data is available from CEDEN in the Beachwatch program.
State Sources¶
CEDEN - California Environmental Data Exchange Network
- San Diego Data Catalog
- Beachwatch Program has the TMDL data
National Data¶
- WATERS Watershed Assessment, Tracking & Environmental Results System. Unites several other datasets:
- EPA Water Quality Indicators Data Review
- ATTAINS Assessment, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Tracking and Implementation System
- NARS National Aquatic Resource Surveys
- National Water Quality Monitoring Council Portal ( This seems to be the best site for SD County data )
- USGS Water Quality Data
Weather¶
- NOAA Land-Based Station Data For daily or hourly rain totals
- NOAA Climate Data Onliine
Tools¶
- NWIS Mapper Good for flow measurements, especially daily data
- CEDEN Advanced Query

I love a clean San Diego may be able to provide data for trash. See Toxicity of cigarette butts, and their chemical components, to marine and freshwater fish ( There are many groups that do beach cleanup, but they don't record their data, don't centralize it. Plastics are a major issue. But no comprehensive policy. Ask CS for more details. Maybe we can work on centralizing the data. Maybe have a crowd source system )
